OnePlus last month launched OnePlus 7 series through an event. There OnePlus 7 & OnePlus 7 Pro has launched. OnePlus 7 has come with same design & features from predecessor OnePlus 6T but, powered in OnePlus 7 Pro processor. Now, here is the OnePlus 7 review & hands-on first look.

Corning Gorilla glass support

The OnePlus 7 has made of 3D glass material at rear and aluminum frame at sides. In OnePlus 6T designed in Mirror Black & Midnight Black now the OnePlus 7 crafted in two colors called Red & Mirror Gray. On holding in hands, its not feel more slippery compared to OnePlus 6T. Then OnePlus 7 Pro also, feels the same.

The OnePlus 7 comes in the size of 157.7*74.8*8.2mm and having 182g weight. OnePlus brings similar dimension of OnePlus 6T. But reduced the device weight compared to OnePlus 6T which having 185g. Finally, it really feels the light weight and perfect holding on hand with less slippery even having glass material. OnePlus 7 has fully designed in 3D Glass material with Corning Gorilla glass support on both front & rear.

Moving on to physical overview, on top exists with secondary microphone only. The non-pro version has no POP-UP selfie camera. So, selfie camera housed inside the water drop notch as like OnePlus 6T. Right from top of the notch wide ear piece located. At the sides of device mounted with power button & alert slider at right. And volume rockers & SIM slot at left. Also, noticed that Alert slider size reduced compared to OnePlus 6T.

Finally, in bottom USB type C located in between dual stereo speakers. Yes! OnePlus doesn’t provide the 3.5mm audio jack. At rear side mounted with dual camera module & OnePlus logo beneath followed by OnePlus branding. Overall the device look stylish & gives the premium look with Red color variant & classical in Mirror Gray variant.

6.4-inch optic AMOLED display with

Water drop notch

OnePlus 7 has sports with 6.41-inch FHD+ Notch type display, 2340*1080-pixel resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and more than 90% screen to body ratio. The display has based on optic AMOLED panel and designed in 3D glass material at rear. And the device has protected with Corning Gorilla glass support on both front & rear. The non-pro version has no 90Hz refresh rate. So, after using OnePlus 7 Pro feels slightly rough feeling on scrolling & touching the display. In this department, OnePlus has not changed anything compared to OnePlus 6T.

The display features reading mode, night mode & has adaptive brightness features. With help of Oxygen OS, the OnePlus 7 has capable to change dark mode, light mode & colorful mode. Then it has option to hide & show the notch in display settings. Also, it has more features to customize the design in display settings. As like OnePlus 7 Pro (Review) the non-pro version also, have screen recording feature. Finally, on using the device the display looks cool without the 90Hz refresh rate. Since it has fast moving phase has a sharper cuts no moving through each option.

Dual rear camera module with

48MP main camera & 5MP depth sensor

Now, moving to camera department this time OnePlus brings the depth sensor as supportive camera with primary camera. OnePlus 7 has mounted with dual camera module at rear having 48MP main camera. Which used the flagship sensor of Sony IMX 586 sensor at 0.8um pixel size, f/1.7 aperture. The main camera has supported with OIS & EIS.

Then it has 5MP secondary sensor for portrait shot followed by main camera. Supportive camera specs at f/2.4 aperture, 1.12um pixel size. Rear camera outputs good quality images having right amount of colors & details. On capturing in direct lighting condition, it gives the subject clear with help of HDR mode but has white shades in picture. Find the below pictures shot on OnePlus 7 rear camera.

The dual rear camera features different modes having Ultra shot, Nightscape, Studio lighting, Portrait mode, RAW Image. It has supported with HDR mode and it can be controlled in both auto & manual. Then for video recording OnePlus 7 has capable to record up to 4K resolution at 30/60 fps. Also, the rear camera feature super slow motion in 1080p at 240fps & time lapse video recording.

16MP selfie camera housed inside notch

Turning around the front having 16MP primary camera housed inside the water drop notch. The camera used the Sony IMX 471 sensor at f/2.0 aperture, 1.0um pixel size. Then, it has supported with electronic image stabilization (EIS) with fixed focus. The selfie camera works really well it has good amount of details & colors. Also, it has almost equal camera picture quality with OnePlus 7 Pro. Find the below snaps taken from OnePlus 7 front facing camera.

The front camera supports face unlock, HDR mode. Also, the front camera triggers the display to flash the screen during low light for face recognition. In video recording on front it supports up to 1080p resolution video at 30fps and supported with Time-Lapse video recording.

UFS 3.0 Flash storage

The OnePlus 7 powered by Snapdragon 855 octa core processor clocks up to 2.8GHz speed. Combined with maximum of 8GB RAM & 256GB internals. As like OnePlus 7 Pro it has UFS 3.0 flash storage type. Which gives the faster and smooth experience. App loading time reduced greatly. UFS3.0 double the theoretical speed than UFS 2.1.

On software side, it runs on top with Oxygen OS 9.5.2 based on Android Pie. Also, the device is compatible to upgrade Android Q (Android Q Compatible devices) version right from unboxing. The OnePlus 7 has new RAM booster feature which analyze your usage patterns like which apps you used frequently. Based on that it preloads the particular app for faster access. Also, it clears the RAM memory of un used apps on real time. On storage it having two memory configuration 6GB + 128GB & 8GB + 256GB storage.

It has power packed with 3700mAH battery chargeable through USB type C port with Warp charge 30 fast Charging support. Other connectivity options like USB Type C, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G/5G, Bluetooth 5.0, support aptX & aptX HD & LDAC & AAC, NFC, GPS, UFS 3.0 Flash storage, Linear vibration, dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos sound and dual SIM with dual VoLTE are supported. Then for device privacy, has In-Display finger print reader & Face unlock supports for device security.
