Realme a sub brand of Oppo they introduced their first smartphone RealMe 1 mobile with Mediatek Helio P60 processor and they launched continually with three smartphones RealMe 2, RealMe 2 pro & an entry-level budget segment smartphone RealMe C1 this year with a month gap on each smartphones and ending up this year with another midrange segment and bringing up with the Mediatek Helio P70 processor with AI processing, as seen Realme started this year with Mediatek Processor and ended this year with same new Mediatek Helio P70 processor with the device Realme U1.

After the launch of C1 Realme this time again back with new midrange segment smartphone and brings with a two set of configurations 4 + 64 GB & 3 + 32 GB RAM & ROM respectively and the company highlights camera feature sturdily since it has 25MP AI selfie camera and this is the first device to experience the World’s first Mediatek Helio P70 Processor that nearly performs well as like Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

Design: 7/10

The initial impression what we feel when holding the device is it’s looks and feels like Realme C1 and the device is having about 8mm thickness and reduced 0.5mm than Realme 2 Pro also, comparable with other midrange series like Redmi Note 6 Pro, ASUS Max pro M2 the U1 has minimum thickness in spec but while get hands on visually it not feels like slim than other devices and the weight is almost 168g carrying the device is not much more weight since it’s made of poly carbonate material with 13-layer laminated technology like light reflection with glass like effect and 2.5D curved rounded edges on all sides.

Display: 7.5/10

The U1 has a 6.3inch FHD+ IPS LCD screen display with dew water drop notch at the centre of the display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and having 90.80% screen to body ratio with the resolution of 2340*1080 pixel. Experience the full HD display by playing higher end games and enjoying the movie at full resolution and reading blogs on internet, the viewing is better in all directions and using the device with the navigation gesture instead of navigation buttons feels the full view experience.

Viewing the display for full time by avoiding fatigue for your eyes with Night shield protection that protects your eyes from screen brightness and also, using the feature adaptive brightness it optimises the brightness based on available lighting condition. And having the 6.3-inch FHD dew drop display it able to split the screen into two for using two application at a same screen and it manages well with its bigger display by swiping with three fingers in upward at any applications interface.

Camera: 8/10

Realme comes with a huge changes in the camera department the U1 has used Sony flagship sensor IMX576 25MP selfie camera in F2.0 aperture size and 1.8um pixel features 4 in 1 pixel and it has dual real camera with 13MP primary camera and 2MP depth sensor for portrait, bokeh effect also Realme U1 features AI in the processor using that lot more AI scene detection, AI photography,  back light clarity and more introduced in the camera and the U1 has a support of Super slo-mo videos at 90fps in video recording and Realme tells that this slo-mo update will be received to RM2 pro devices through OTA and other devices will be in consideration.

As we taken a few shots in the Realme U1 camera it has good exposure time, has a support for HDR mode that optimize the contrast and lights on the background well. The rear camera has portrait mode with good bokeh effect also, you can take photos in different lighting mode and the front camera has no portrait mode but using the AI and custom OS there is an option to blur the background and it works better. The exposure time has become fast based on the subject and the U1 camera is close enough to take the moving subjects with good details in the subject without affecting the whole picture.

The Realme U1 has Super vivid mode feature in both front & rear camera, that captures the photos with more saturation in overall picture with rich in colour with more details and sharpness & Realme captures every subject as real by default. And both the real subject & rich colour with more details & sharpness takes the photo to next level in Super Vivid mode than normal mode.

In Video U1 has a support of recording videos in 4K at 60FPS in both cameras and has a support of recording super-slow motion at 720P in 60 FPS & Time-Lapse video recording that records video by calculating 4 Seconds as 1 Seconds. Performance: 8/10

The Realme U1 is powered by the new Mediatek Helio P70 processor manufactured at 12nm process technology the U1 is the first device to have this processor, the Helio P70 is the successor Helio P60 processor which was used in the Realme debut smartphone Realme 1. The P70 is a 64bit processor made of 8 cores CPU having 4 cores with ARM cortex A53 for energy efficient and 4* ARM cortex A73 cores for performance runs at a clock speed of up to 2.1Ghz and supported with ARM cortex Mali G72 MP3 up-to 900Mhz graphics process. In the AnTuTU benchmark Helio P70 runs on Realme U1 scores 14,5021 marks by beating the Redmi Note 6 Pro & Honor 8X Smartphones in terms of CPU, GPU and Memory.

Realme U1 has the same setup of software what we experienced in the previous Realme devices, the U1 runs based on Android 8.1 Oreo with security patch updated on November 5, 2018 and runs in the custom Colour OS 5.2 and this device has loaded with two memory variant the one is 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory and 4GB + 64GB variant and it’s expandable to additional memory through SD card up-to 256GB. You’ll get 49.9GB in 64GB storage out of the box and it has support of OTG.

It has an option given for Game space that organise all gaming application inside that space and you have an option in settings> Game space and toggle Graphics acceleration for better gaming experience. Once the games application moved to game space it accelerate the game performance and you feel the speed in the game movements.

Since it is a custom operating system there are many inbuilt features has been initiated as default and Realme uses the same operating system & Colour OS 5.1 for their all devices and the U1 has fulfil the all features as possible for better user experience and using the Realme U1 has easy free options like lift up display, double tapping screen On & Off, swiping down with three fingers to take screen shot & swiping upward with three fingers to enable split screen mode.

And feature like Assistive Ball like iPhone default feature a shortcut used as shortcut option to go through home, back or recent apps by using the floating ball in screen, you can use the assistive Ball in gesture and menu type operation. Using gesture, you can use three type of operation like by tapping, double tap and touch & hold operation you can set the different function like viewing notification, one handed operation, home screen, back, recent apps for each operation. And Navigation Gestures with different styles that hides navigation buttons and by using swiping Gestures option from the bottom to go back to Home, Back & Recent navigations and using screen off gestures option you can access any application by drawing an alphabet like M, N in screen off condition.

Smart Side bar an additional feature for accessing the most used application or functions instantly when you need it and this feature is works in horizontal viewing like playing games or watching movies you use this shortcut cut to open the application instantly and some applications will work as floating apps so you access your application in the same screen itself. And wake up Google assistant instantly by pressing the power button for 0.5 seconds and continue pressing the power button for 3 seconds will power off the device. Another interesting handy feature is search option is available in settings, using that you can get through the option by using the related keywords in the search box, check all the features mentioned above by using search box in the settings.

Security: 8/10

The Realme U1 has Face unlock and finger print scanning for device security, face unlock accuracy is really fast and its really fast than devices like flagship devices OnePlus & all other midrange smartphones related to the same budget range devices like Redmi Note 6 Pro, Asus Max Pro M2 and coming finger print scanning it also works pretty fast and its recognition is almost equal to the flagship device like OnePlus 6.

Using Colour OS 5.1 Realme U1 has additional feature for more security & privacy like Screen pinning option with lock mode that pins the current application running in the screen and to Unpin user needs to authenticate with their passwords and has inbuilt application lock with security code and user to set security question while enabling to reset the password in future and application lock is linked with face lock so you can open the application using you face and it unlocks in 1.5 seconds.

Battery: 7.8/10

The U1 is packed with a battery support of 3500mAh battery with power saving mode. It has a standard charging support and it takes more than 2 hours to make the battery full. It withstands 2 to 3 days for a normal usage and during idle time power consumption is works well, standby for almost 2 hours 2% of battery is discharged. And even for hard usage like playing higher end 3D games during low battery about 20% the device as no hanging issue and feels lighter heating issue.

The Helio P70 processor is manufactured at 12 Nano meter process technology so power consumption is works well by default through processor additionally U1 has a feature of Power saving mode to survive during low battery that manage the battery level by closing the background application during standby to pass the synchronisation, reduce the screen brightness, vibration on touch function is turned off automatically & display goes to sleep mode after 5 seconds of inactivity.

The Realme U1 is sold through Amazon Exclusive and its goes for a price of Rs. 11,999 for base variant 3GB + 32GB & Rs. 14,999 for 4GB + 64GB variant RAM & ROM respectively.
